ABOUT Liam Kidney, Photographer

I have worked as a professional photographer for the past sixteen years, specialising in weddings. I currently live in Athlone, Co. Westmeath but cover weddings nationwide.

I am passionate about all aspects of photography. As well as wedding photography I also love wildlife, landscape, sport and portrait photography. In the past seven years I have been running photography courses for beginners and intermediate photographers in Athlone. Teaching is a great way to share my passion for photography.

I am married to my beautiful wife Laura since February 2017 and we have a beautiful daughter Aine and son Seán.

I love traveling and I have spent a lot of time in Africa photographing its people and wildlife. I have worked with the Brighter Communities Charity (formerly Friends of Londiani) in Kenya and I have visited and documented their work many times since 2007. I have ran an exhibition in the Tuar Ard Gallery showcasing the people and wildlife of East Africa in 2015. The charity uses my photos to showcase the charities work on a ongoing basis.
I am a member of the Irish Professional Photographers and Video Association (IPPVA) and The Guild of Photographers. I came 4th in the European FEP Professional Wildlife Photography Awards in 2018. I was the Winner of the "2015 IPPA Best Classic Wedding Portfolio" and "2015 IPPA Best Classic Wedding Single Image" awards. I won a Silver medal with Irish Photographic Federation in 2014. I won the Travel Photographer of The Year Award for 2009 with the SWPP and I have also won several Gold awards with the SWPP.
